Vegetable Dim Sum Recipe

Dim-sim is other name of momos. It was popularized by a Chinese immigrant in Melbourne. Dim Sum can be prepared in a variety of ways, from steamed, fried, or baked and are typically served on small plates or inside bamboo steamers.

For Dough
 1 cup All Purpose Flour
 ½ tsp Baking Powder
  tsp Salt
 4 tbsp Maida (for dusting)
  cup Warm Water
For Filling
 6 Garlic Cloves (chopped)
 ½ cup White Part of Spring Onion (chopped)
 2 tbsp Green Chilli (chopped)
 ½ cup Carrot (chopped)
 ½ cup French Beans (chopped)
 3 cups Cabbage (chopped)
 1 tsp Light Soy Sauce
 12 pinches Black Pepper Powder
 Salt and Sugar to taste
 ½ cup Green Part Of Spring Onion (chopped)
 2 tbsp Cooking Oilcan be used any oil.
Making Dough

In a large vessel mix flour, baking powder, salt and water to a stiff dough, Set aside for 10 mins.

Making Filling

Heat oil in a pan, add in garlic, chillies and white spring onion. Saute for 1 min. Now add carrot, cabbage, beans and capsicum. Saute them for a min, put some salt, sugar and mix well. Cook everything for 5 mins till it is cooked.
Add soy sauce and black pepper, spring onions and mix well.

After making filling, Take remaining flour in another bowl. Add salt and 2 tablespoons water and mix well. Add to prepared flour and knead well. Transfer onto a worktop and knead again. Transfer into a bowl, cover with damp muslin cloth and set aside for 30 minutes.

Divide the dough into small equal portions.

To prepare mouse dimsums, take a dough portion, roll out to make a thin disc, fill in some vegetable mixture, pinch one end, press it in and repeat till end.

Heat some water in a non-stick pan and bring water to boil. Place prepared dimsums in lined bamboo steamer, place the steamer in hot water and steam on high heat for 8-10 minutes.

To prepare ginger soy dip, heat soy sauce in a non-stick pan. Add some water and ginger, mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add sesame seeds and sesame oil, swirl and cook 2 minutes.
Serve hot dim-sim with soy dip and enjoy.
